The dudes who ran this shebang were certainly very passionate about their railway but I did not need to hear SEVEN times how they needed 14 million dollars to achieve their train dream. I don't actually have that sort of spare change and I felt a little guilty enjoying my holiday and not donating to them. That said, cute little chug up to the museum and back.

Great history friendly staff. On Sundays you can catch the train from the Herberton Historical Village return for $5 each. Dog friendly.

A wonderful place to visit. Run by very knowledgeable and enthusiastic volunteers. I have just read several reviews critical of some of the volunteers there. That is unfair as these people donate their time and money to to restore and maintain a wonderful slice of Australian heritage. Good on them. I only wish that I lived in the area so I could join them. It was one of the most memorable moments of of my week long visit to the Tablelands.
