I have been learning French here for several months and my experience has been amazing! Would definitely recommend VLLC for anyone who is looking to learn another language. The weekly lessons are well structured and easy to understand. I have found it very easy to schedule classes around my work and always look forward to them as the French tutors are very kind and funny and always make classes very fun and interesting. They have helped me progress so much in learning French. The other tutors and staff are great too and are always so respectful and welcoming and great to have a chat with :)

I have been trying to learn French for five years. For the past seven months I have been learning French through VLLC, the program is great and the tutors are even better, very patient and thorough. 100% would recommend VLLC for anyone who wants to learn another language!

I began my Mandarin Chinese language journey many years ago via college and university but never managed to get to a level where I could confidently talk, read and write. Fast forward a few years and I found a local VLLC offered courses in Adelaide and online. So with my passion for the language I picked up where I left off. What I found with VLLC is that the structure of the lessons and the weekly “one on one” tutorial with a native speaker is what I needed. Passion for a language will get you so far but its the motivation to keep going which is hard; this is what you get from your tutor. The tutors continually adjust their teaching style as you learn and improve always motivating you to keep going. After finishing all the lessons in the course I decided to still meet with my tutor once a week to keep the language real. And with a couple of books read under my belt, talking for an hour in Mandarin each week, I can highly recommend VLLC for all your language needs.

VLLC is a fantastic place to learn a new language. Everyone is welcoming and so encouraging. Niko and Elliot (both native speakers) are amazing French teachers who are patient, have great senses of humour and make the learning experience enjoyable. Not only do they teach me the French language, I have learnt so much about the culture. Despite my lack of confidence, when I travelled I was shocked that people could understand my basics and I actually got the food and wine I ordered! What a thrill. i have been learning Arabic with VLLC since June 2022. I had tried to learn Arabic for a year prior to that, with Duolingo. However, after 12 months on Duolingo I hadn't got far. I knew some of the common words, which helped when i started with VLLC, but my progress since beginning the social proficiency course at VLLC has been much faster. I skype with my tutor every week and both of my tutors have been happy to go at my pace and explain grammatical points when i ask about them. From the first lesson with VLLC the tutorials have ensured that my pronunciation is corrected and homework is set each week to develop reading and writing skills. Short of being totally immersed in the language, I believe that the VLLC course is the next best way to learn a foreign language. Obviously the benefit you get from the course depends on the amount of effort you are prepared to put in. The lessons are expensive but VLLC were prepared to accept a payment arrangement I proposed which allowed me to pay as I went along in the beginning. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone contemplating learning a new language.

I study Japanese and I have thoroughly enjoyed the course VLLC has provided and my one on one tutorials have been the most helpful thing in all my studies. I have tried self study, university studies, and this has been my most effective study. Working at my own pace with helpful gentle nudges along the way. Everybody at VLLC are wonderful with a warm welcome every time I walk through that door. All the staff are willing to take the time to have a conversation with you ask you questions and also willing to share things about themselves too.

Gabriela took the time to understand my objectives, craft a personalised course and homework for me that was relatable to my work. Conversations flowed and i felt comfortable asking questions knowing i would be helped along the way. VLLC was a great place to continue my Spanish journey and learning.

For many consecutive years, my New Years resolution had been to improve my mandarin from primary school level to one where I can communicate adequately with clients at my work. VLLC has been excellent in supporting me towards that goal - they worked with me to establish my existing level of fluency and identified areas of weakness that I needed to work on. VLLC is extremely flexible and accommodating - I am a shift worker, and they worked with me to find tutorial times each week that would work. Melissa, my Chinese tutor at the Melbourne centre, is absolutely delightful to work with - her passion for teaching, and the language, is obvious.
