After an ordinary experience a year ago, we decided to give the restaurant another try as it’s very close to where we live.Staff asked if we had booking, we said no staff said we will see if we have a table… of course there was a table, the restaurant was empty other than one other couple the whole time.Staff certainly aren’t welcoming.Steak was thin over cooked and very dry.Salad was warm and old.Table service was poor even with their being the same amount of staff as seated tables.Restaurant is freezing.

A small group of us just walked in to have dinner. The lady behind the bar said there wasn’t a table big enough for us to be seated. We said no worries, we’ll gladly take two tables would that be ok? She sighed so loud and rolled her eyes… the door practically shook and said “not really”. Walked out and now will enjoy spending our money somewhere else.

This hidden restaurant is serving seriously delicious food. We had sea flood platter for two - everything was flesh and cooked so well. The person sitting next to us had enormous steak with shrimps on top - looked soooo good either. Definitely going to come back!

I was truly disappointed today in just how much this place has gone so downhill. I have visited only once before where there were friendly faces to greet me, incredible food such as “home made” pasta and Ragù to accompany it. I arrived today, with that expectation in mind and unfortunately, the two employees behind the bar didn’t approach me or even look at me until I spoke up as I was curious to why they had a sign that says “wait to be seated” if they weren’t interested in doing so… I was bought a menu that had meals crossed off with permanent maker and no where near the options that I expected. I made a decision to order some Oysters Kilpatrick whilst I looked over the menu a little more and with only one other table occupied I didn’t expect them to take as long as what they did. When the Oysters finally arrived, they looked great so I was hopeful however, I was so very wrong. They were that bad that I even had to spit a few back onto the plate which is something that I just don’t do. Whilst eating, I also witnessed a line of men in fluoros being given a tour of the tavern which was incredibly disrespectful to the guests trying to enjoy a lunch. All I hope is that this gives a little insight to others wishing to visit as there are plenty of other pubs in town that offer way better food and service.

Staff are very standoffish, we waited 5 minutes to be served and we couldn’t even get a “hello I’ll be with you soon”, zero customer service skills.Outside tables were cleared but not cleaned.Food was a lot better then previous visits 3 stars.No normal white vinegar.Staff smoking near the outside tables put us off our meal.

Terrible meal.I ordered the Rump Steak at $25 as the others were upwards to $42.It came out cold as did the chips. Nobody likes cold hard chips.And the steak was about 1/3 gristle.The Garlic Cream sauce came out in a bowl and had a skin on it, it had been sitting around for so long.The Bar Staff were nice, polite and efficient.Give the Rump Steak a miss.But not the Tavern, it’s actually not too bad.I got a refund thanks to a highly efficient Lady Staff Member, and for that I’m most grateful.

Possibly the best fish and chips I've had so far. My wife had the Hawaiian pizza and was very happy. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be returning again.

This place used to be really good, but these last few months it's terrible, no fish tacos (which was the main reason most people in gero came here at all) and now it seems they never have what you want on the menu, no potato's?? No seafood, taps ran dry, tried to order some muscles 4 of one kind and 8 of the other, but only aloud to order 6 of a kind or 12 of a kind , not mix them, what a joke
