Rutherglen Convent

I hired the place so that my children and grandchildren could all be in the one place. There were 12 kids and it was a great experience. The children loved it, the adults loved it and best of all there was always something happening somewhere. You get lost in the place. Its rare to find a building that will accommodate us all.

What a special and unique experience! A few friends and I stayed here for the Rutherglen Winery Walkabout and it was truly magnificent. Perfectly located with every amenity under the sun, we were well taken care of. A view from every angle it really felt like you were a part of history. We will be back next year!

Beautifully restored building with plenty of room for large groups to stay. Feel quite privileged to have been able to stay in such an amazing building. The location is perfect, we were able to walk into town each day and its got a number of wineries close by for those wanting to experience the local wine region. Highly recommend for those looking to stay with Family and Friends!!

The building was renovated in 2021 and offers B & B accomodation. Extensive grounds allow for large events, in this case a friend's birthday party. The ambience of the property is enhanced with period furniture together with photos and information on its history.

Our stay was so lovely, thank you.The convent has been beautifully restored. It’s such a gorgeous old building, full of history. Comfortable bed. Great cooking facilities, caters well for a large group of people. Lovely fire pit. Lots to do in the area.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Rutherglen Convent, and could not recommend it enough. The current owners have done a remarkable job in restoring this amazing building, doing complete justice to its heritage whilst simultaneously updating it where it counts.The rooms were immaculate, beds comfier than home, bathrooms were brand new and spotless (and one of the coolest old rooms), and there was every amenity you’d need for a large group. Artefacts and history of the building are scattered throughout, which is such a great touch.I could imagine a wedding there would be a ton of fun, with enough seperate bedrooms and space for the bridal party and family, and plenty function/breakout spaces.Great bit of history, in a great part of the world. Thankful it has been saved and brought back to life. I will be back.Matt.

Had our wedding here on the weekend it was the perfect place for 2 families to come together under one roof. What an absolutely stunning venue. So many great photo opportunities and places to socialise.It has all the modern comforts and keeps its heritage charm.Gina and the team were amazing from the start with exceptional communication and understanding of what we wanted to achieve. They helped our wedding and weekend run perfectly and we can not be more grateful for the privilege of getting married here.

We're a mob of 16 friends who self-cater when we go away. The Convent was perfect for us. The facilities, both kitchen and dining, were perfect for cooking for a group, and long lazy meals. Bike riders, walkers golfers, wine tasters, it was all in easy distance. We had a lot of fun learning about the history, not just from the booklet but also chatting to the local priest just down the road. Many memories for those educated in the Catholic system, especially boarders! Great value and very comfortable, we cannot recommend it highly enough.
