Loved the ambiance and South American vibe. When you walk in it hits you, the colours, the music and a small corner with South American products for sale. The waiters are exceptionally friendly and welcoming.I haven’t been to South America so I’m not familiar with their food and this is our first time eating at a South American restaurant. We loved the empanadas, chorillana (fries) and pastel de choclo (casserole). I found the pescado (pan fried fish) and milanesa (pan fried steak) a little bland, but maybe that’s how it’s served usually. Food came out fresh and hot.Overall a very fun experience for us, trying something so unique in Melbourne!

Over the years both in Sydney and Melbourne several Chilean style cafes have come and gone. The ones that have survived have adapted to the arrival of other Latin American cultures with their food. This is a good thing in that the food on offer is much more varied but the classic Chilean dishes are still the star of the show.A group of 5 of us wentfor lunch and I can truely say the service and food were great … 4 of us ordered the Chacarero sandwich and one ordered the Guiso with rice … we shared Empanadas de Pino with pebre. All of us ordered a Pisco sour which were fine but slightly too sweet for my taste. We will definitely be back

Edited January 2023I’m going to start off by acknowledging the hospitality industry has had a very tough time and good staff are hard to find and retain, but it saddens me when a restaurant which did things well, no longer holds up that reputation. The empanadas used to be things of beauty. Golden, piping hot and flakey with oozing delicious fillings. However, today that was not the case and the photos show how different they now are.Pasty thick dough and instead of freshly cooked and piping hot, either they were pre cooked and just in a warmer or had been fresh some time earlier. It was 45 min before I received my correct order.Once I received the correct order of eggs, they were good and I enjoyed the caramelised onion, but the bread that came with it was not fresh.Coffee did not arrive until after the corrected food order arrived and only after I prompted them to find it, then it was barely luke warm. But they did not charge me for the coffee.Unfortunately Gus had stepped out and was not there to speak with when I left.————————————————————My review before updating Jan 2023:Staff are super friendly and the food is so so so good. So fresh and tasty. I’m slowly making my way through the whole menu. I’ll keep going back for sure.

Away from the main strip, this neighbourhood gem is a great place for a South American food adventure. We made our choices and settled back to enjoy the vibes. The Pastel de Choclo is a traditional dish from southern Chile, with beef mince, chicken pieces, boiled eggs and olives covered by a layer of mashed corn, baked in a clay pot. The sweetness from the corn totally infused the meat and eggs, which was just irresistible. We also had Charquicán, a hearty beef stew with vegetables that was so satisfying on a cold, wintry night.Staff were super friendly and happy to stop for a little chat. Eat in the relaxed dining area and afterwards migrate to the couches to soak up the Latino rhythms from the live entertainment. Enjoy drinks from the bar and even pick up some groceries from the shop corner. This was an awesome discovery and such a worthwhile experience.

Such a cute spot if you’re in Brunswick. Lovely staff, good food - the alfajores is huge - and cosy seating reminds me of hanging out at a friend’s place rather than a restaurant/cafe.

A rare jewel in the world of South American restaurants. Cuisines presented just like homemade, comforting and best tasting. A good wait time of fifteen minutes max, so best order coffees first (freshly brewed!). Menu has some popular and famed Chilean dishes that are a must try, even remind me of home. A must try if anywhere you’re in Brunswick, even for a coffee. Just like home!
