This is a gem. Don’t just do the coloured car door drives and drive past this place. Stop and go in. It is an interesting story of how this Heritage listed place came to be. Who built it, when, why and how. Also where “Amigo” is now and what he has been up to.

Amigo's Castle
As part of one of lightning ridge’s highlights, we were able to enter free of charge (surprisingly), though we did not receive much of a guided tour of any sort since the lady tending to the place at the time had informed us that the place is currently undergoing renovations to be a bit more tourist friendly. Nonetheless, she gave us a quick background check about the castle and Amigo, which was very interesting to say the least. This is one of the places you’d only come once unless there’s something new or more fascinating being added however. It’s still a magnificent piece of work that was build here for sure.

An interesting place to visit. More could certainly be done with the place I believe. Glad the entry price isn't high due to the limited things to do. The treasure hunt was a bit of fun. Nice place. Worth a look.

I only went for the toy store. Great toy store. Building is falling apart though - looking at the rest of the venue it looked very piss weak. Good if you are into that thing. My teens are too cool" for pissweak

Unfortunately there are some sections closed off but that did not stop us enjoying our visit. We did the treasure hunt, explored all the displays then enjoyed some refreshments in the cafe. Staff are super friendly and helpful.

We didn't realise the place was undergoing maintenance before we arrived, but we still had a super time! We played the treasure hunt game, got to see some awesome doll set-ups and learn a thing or two about medieval times. Their toy/gift shop is also incredibly extensive, with tons of European branded toys. The staff are also super friendly and helpful, I recommend visiting this place :)

Unfortunately we didn’t get the opportunity to explore the grounds. But even just looking from the road was fun with the quirky signs and art features. It has an interesting tale as to how and why it was built, the passion the owner had in building it. Worth stopping here, even if you can’t tour the grounds.

A very interesting place, the lady that runs it was very informative and happy to answer any questions. It was a shame he never got to finish building it.They still hire the place out for weddings and birthdays..You have to look carefully as there are quirky little things about..
