Delicious food and a great experience trying new cuisine. A really wholesome place supporting refugee women ❤️

My husband and I visited Little Africa after accidentally discovering it on Maps. We saw that it had a high rating and thought we'd do two things – experience great food while trying a new cuisine for the first time. Needless to say, the food was a revelation. We had the Vegetarian Combination for Two (which serves a bit of all the veg dishes, not just a few choice ones), and we loved it. With its just-right portions and mind-blowing taste, it really took us on a journey. We'll definitely go back for more!

I first stumbled across this place after discovering that the three monkeys had closed down as I was looking for a place to eat with a friend.. I’m so glad I gave it a go as the woman who runs it has such a warm and welcoming energy and the food is beautiful. Very traditional flavours and you can taste the love that goes into it.Love the very non pretentious and homely vibe. Especially in stark contrast to the new developments across the road!Highly recommend.

A wonderful restaurant. Unassuming from the front, like many such places it's on the inside that counts. My wife and I had the share platter with Kantisha (mushroom and capsicum stew), Brusn (the best lentils I've had - and I've had a lot!) and Bierai (beef stew which my wife said was sensational). Before the share plate came out, the share entree of dips was fantastic, each one completely different from each other, and the flatbread-cross-crepe is a chewy delight that mopped everything up perfectly. As some of the other reviews have said, this is not fast food, but a great place to while away the night with company. If this is your thing, you will love it. We will definitely be coming back.

My first time trying Ethiopian food, definitely an experience. The guy who served us (maybe the owner) was very kind and welcoming and guided us through the menu.We ordered the platter, where it comes with injera and some curries to eat with. For me the fish curry was my favorite. Would recommend! Oh, and try their beers as well.

Very friendly staff. Awesome food. Ordered dorho zighini chicken was well cooked and delicious flavours. Ethopian coffee was bit bitter but some unique taste. The ambience makes you feel their culture as there are some antiques on the walls. Felt heart warming. The toilets are clean and some ancient painting in there too which felt nice. The staff was so nice as we ordered one extra dish and then we were full so cancelled it but the staff allowed us to cancel it. So nice gesture. The portion is satisfactory enough to make you full. Would definitely visit again and try other dishes.

The food was nice, we had the $39 banquet menu and enjoyed learning about the Eritrean history on the walls - only downside was that we had to wait about 90 minutes after we we’re only told it would be 15 minutes

Most mind blowing delicious food ever! The Combination of the Day and the vegetarian combination are my favourite with beautiful presentation. Perfect for 1 person or for sharing and will easily fill you up for a good price. The servers are so kind and make you feel at home! My favourite restaurant in North Melbourne!

The Abyssinian is an experience!I've never had food quite like it before. We came in a group of 4, and although some didn't like the sourness of the injera, I grew quite fond of the yeast. The platter definitely is worth trying. You get a bit of everything, and there are some very great highlights.I am definitely coming here again and I recommend you go out of your comfort to try too!
