Powder Magazine, 27 Webber Esplanade, Cooktown QLD 4895
The Cooktown Powder Magazine was built in 1873-76 to store gunpowder destined for use on the Palmer goldfields. It stands at the far end of what was once the busy port of Cooktown well away from habitation. It has been in a ruinous state for many years but is now protected by a new roof and cyclone bracing.

Love this place with always something interesting to see. You have to check the times they are open though as that could catch you out, but times are easy to find. It’s a pity more people don’t know about it, very easy to just lose an hour or so having a look at all the old stuff and how it all works.

Bell's Milk Bar
Amazing place. Was fun stepping into the 50's and 60's. Loved the ambience. The decor with the old jukebox, seating, decorations, serviette holders etc. Great original mini museum out back. Serve all manners of icecream based dessert. Loved my peaches and cream waffle and my blue raspberry soda spider. Friendly owner/staff who welcomed us. All their syrups and cordials can be ordered online.

Great day out there were sever steam engines in display today. Pity the rain made an appearance, but we managed to stay reasonably dry. Highly recommend
