My dad was in Arcare Sydenham dementia ward 3 years ago and was cared for extremely well by staff. Our concerns were always taken seriously and met by staff.This year Mum is a resident there although in a different area. The staff that attend to mums needs are amazing, very helpful and caring and always bring a smile to mums face.The Centre is very clean and welcoming.I've found all staff at Arcare from management, careers ,laundry ,café, & maintenance are friendly and have always assisted us promptly when needed.Thank you Arcare for taking care of my parents, I am truly grateful.Josie.

This facility looks impressive and provides good care. The downfall is the horrible food prepared. Many attempts have been made to management, emails and meetings with absolutely no outcome to rectify the u healthy tasteless mush they serve residents. It’s appalling. They do not care as they assume they are old and it doesn’t matter. Residents pay a very high levy for food per week and it is not acceptable.

My mother had respite at Arcare reservoir it was organised at the very last minute and every member at the facility where accommodating and very helpful during this difficult time. The staff could not do enough to make my mum comfortable. The chef made eggplant parmigiana specially for mum with a cafeteria coffee. This was very heart felt by our family. She has not stopped talking about how delicious it was. My mother is Italian so it must have been exceptional.thank you chef Latta The care was outstanding, lifestyle people went out of there way and management caring and professional with a can do attitude and nothing was to much.thank you Arcare Reservoir.

One of the worst aged care I don’t know how they can say its 5 star aged care my parents always complain of short staff because of them they are not getting proper care. Disgusting

After 3 years of my Mum living here, would I choose Templestowe Arcare again given everything I now know about life in Aged Care...probably not. No matter how beautiful or clean a centre is what matters most ultimately is how your loved ones are treated when they most need it. Unfortunately it was a terrible 1 week leading to the day my mother passed away...stuff ups after stuff ups...worse thing was Arcare management refused to take responsibility and instead pointed the finger at their own staff...no you are ultimately responsible for your staffs actions. To say we are disappointed by how our mother was treated at the end of her life is an understatement. If I had known now I would have pulled her out and put her in a proper palliative care centre as they were grossly inept to deal with her quick deterioration ..worst still there was pain and suffering involved that I was told was anxiety". If it wasn't for my mother's nephrologist's intervention by her attending Arcare...who knows how long my mother's actual pain and suffering would have gone on.Will be lodging a complaint as my emails written to management were just ignored. Mum's nephrologist also encouraged us to make a complaint.Mum was happy here in her 1st year prior to Covid but since then there has been a rapid deterioration at the centre

This place is fabulous. Like a 5star hotel. The staff are amazing they really care for the residents, especially grateful for Sandy and Jody who entertain the residents and keep them engaged and occupied. The facilities are wonderful, the rooms are spacious, light and airy, the common areas like the many lounge areas and cafe are also fantastic. Can’t say enough good things about this place. Thank God everyday for this place.

My grandparents were here until they passed and it was a terrible experience for them and us. The food was awful, the care staff were quite often rude and uncaring and often couldn't speak English well enough to communicate with my grandparents. My Oma (grandmother) had an awful experience with one of the male carers which because of its severity then had to involve the police. My grandmother who was unable to walk was often left in bed desperate to go to the toilet and ended up soiling herself as the workers took such a long time to get to her. The odd nice worker was overworked and there just weren't enough workers on the roster to care for the residents properly, especially on the weekends with skeleton staff. Directions for specific ways to care for my grandparents from outside doctors or just ways they like to live were ignored, even after constant reminding. If my family were left soiled in bed, with their food and drink on tables they cant reach or even left to feed themselves when they cant hold a utencil, then others probably would have been too. 5 star is an absolute joke. Clearly a time when money comes ahead of the care of the elderly. If children were cared for in such a way people would be charged, so why is the care of our elderly people left to be so poorly dealt with? I wouldn't send a rabid dog to be cared for here, let alone loved ones. I can only hope in the last few years there have been improvements. If we had our time over we never would have had them placed here.

Great staff friendly and felt very homely

Absolutely nowhere near the 5 star service they claim.- Serving cold food to the residents who wait for the second food service!- Unhealthy food for elderly that should be given nourishing food.- Food is beyond tasteless!- Staff complain about moving residents around the facility for leisure activities despite it being part of their role.- Staff tell residents not to bother speaking up to make a complaint as it ‘won’t do them any good’!- Staff that shouldn’t be in a carers role that treat residents like they are numbers, and management saying they can’t do anything about it.DON’T send your loved ones here! Appalling!
