Freycinet Lodge
Great location and beautiful place to visit. Our room was lovely and had a nice view of the water. The bed however was one of the worst hotel beds we have slept on. It was two king singles pushed together and made as one to be the 'king bed' advertised. They were different heights and by middle of night were pushing apart with a huge hollow in the middle. Looked nice upon check in (see photo) until we pulled back the covers later that night to go to sleep. Mentioned to reception on check out and they said management would give me a call. Received a generic email survey few days later and reported it again with request of follow up phone call. A month later now and haven't had any phone calls. Very disappointing considering the price of the room ($570 for 1 night!), and lack of customer service. Avoid room 1 if you are a couple expecting a good bed!

Clandulla Cottages
A wonderful set-up for children to interact with farm animals. All needs of families considered, including plenty of games for kids, campfire each night, access to play equipment and playing field, outdoor kitchen (in addition to inside) and deck, sharing of eggs collected. Lovely guidance by hosts for children to meet and feed animals safely and happily. Cottages thoughtfully equipped and very comfortable. Suggested improvement options include a little more space for food preparation, a small coffee machine and perhaps a dishwasher.

Spicers Guesthouse
We had a subpar experience at Spicers Guesthouse over the ANZAC weekend. I was lured in by the beautiful photos on their website and the supposedly great Google reviews, but the reality was far from what was advertised. The only positive aspects were the kangaroos in the backyard and the lady at the front desk who was professional.Despite advertising a fire pit, the staff laughed at us when we asked them to turn it on. The room was tiny and uncomfortable, and the service was terrible. It was clear that the place was run by kids who had no idea what they were doing. To make matters worse, the eRemo restaurant was a disaster. The seafood was not fresh, overly salty, and definitely not worth the money. I reached out to the resort and restaurant staff prior to my arrival to confirm that they could accommodate my dietary requirements, but in reality, the kitchen was inflexible and provided a laughable excuse for a meal. Breakfast was even worse.Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone. It's not a premium accommodation, save your money and look elsewhere for a more enjoyable stay.

Mt Barney Lodge
Just finished camping for 4 nights (Wednesday - Saturday). This place is awesome and will feature on my regular spots" list. When I go bush camping I go to get away from the noise and disturbance of normal life. I don’t want to hear other people’s music or loud parting into the night. Mr Barney Lodge meets my criteria. This camping spot is quiet and peaceful. During the day there were some families with kids that made noise that you would expect from families with kids. It was the noise of kids having fun “hey look at the big goanna…” - no issue here. However when the sun went down

Best Western Plus The Tudor
Staff were incredibly helpful and generous. Thought there was a microwave in room from pictures, but there wasn't- would recommend calling ahead to check if it's important to you. Bath was fantastic. There were some things that looked a little forgotten, but everything worked well. Location was just outside Box Hill centre, with a bus stop right outside the motel. Trains were about 10-15 walk away. Buses weren't frequent over the weekend or at night, so I was glad the trains were relatively close. Overall a great stay, practical and convenient.

Hillview Lodge Buninyong
Refused to help me, someone who has several disabilities, to help move my suitcase to the taxi when I had to leave. They charge $800 a fortnight and there is no Internet. Plus its along a highway with no footpath and it's 30 minutes from the nearest bus stop. Also any one you have stay the night will cost you an extra 100 bucks. DO NOT RECCOMEND.

Chiltern lodge
This was my second time going to Chiltern cottage and definitely the last time. First experience was two years ago and I liked the setting. I asked some of my friends to join me this time and stay for a weekend. We were 9 adults and 5 young kids (0 to 5 yrs) including a 6 month old baby.We booked 2 cottages, at check-in they tried to sell me their vacant cottage even though they said first that other two cottages are taken. I refused because we had kids with us and 2 of them would have slept in their own cot. When we went back to check-in my other friends we were approached by other owner (older lady) who was rude and aggressive saying she is not happy with the fact that we have 14 ppl (incld 5 kids) and booked 2 cottages!!I travel a lot with my twins and the greeting I received from the owners here was the worst experience I ever had, a lot of places don't count little babies, are flexible with numbers or at least are nice enough to offer alternatives when they see you are travelling with children. My points here:- to owners, what did you expect us to do if your other corteges were not vacant? Did you want us to turn around and go back home because we had 2 additional ppl? Or you just wanted to get some cash from your vacant cottage by pushing us to book another cottage?- they had told me before if there are extra ppl they can stay and might be extra charge but apparently they wanted to rent out their empty cottage and force us to pay for it which didn't happen- Throughout the stay they showed up couple of times with grumpy faces and didn't even responded to us saying hello and good morning- to Owners, you know your location is not great, after all is in the middle of bush with 2 km of gravel road and nothing really special. At least try to be nice to ppl and less greedy so ppl come back.- to future travelers, the condition of the place is deteriorating and that reflects on owners attitude towards the guests. All bikes are broken, no dishwasher, mozzies (fair enough u r in the bush), and bad access plus grumpy owners. There are plenty places where you feel welcome, I look elsewhere
