Penang Village Malaysian Delights
Small cozy restaurant for Sunday dinner. Fast service, good portion size and good food. We brought a birthday cake to serve after dinner. There is a charge for this as the restaurant charges $5 for ten disposable paper plates and fork. We ordered seven dishes for seven adults and two kids. That was just enough for us.

We found the whole food experience distinctly underwhelming although the place was packed with people on a Sunday afternoon.Cham drink was way too milky it tasted like milk coffee with zero hint of tea. YTF curry was bland and it had burnt smell. Nasi lemak was okay but could be more generous with the fried chicken (only given 3 small pieces).

Anything La Corner
Staff were rude - I ordered nasi lamek with fried chicken shown on the photo outside - staff snickered and said it was only a picture. I was tempted to leave but was in a hurry. They said they could only do standard nasi lamek; also ordered a cendol for my wife. The photos speak for themselves. This place should not be allowed to operate. Disgusting.

Got the chicken rice for $11 and two piece fried chicken for $4?! Taste good too. How does this place make money?

Apparently this place is famous for its bbq pork. It is indeed a small but busy restaurant. It is in a sort of run-down condition. There was a long queue and customers were blocking the entrance. We ordered two bbq pork noodles and 2 chams. The bbq pork was delicious, sweet and juicy. It was a casual and quick lunch.

Initial thought gee this place remind me of Jalan Ahlor in KL. Sure enough the place is packed with ex pat, even the furniture I am sure imported from KL. Don’t expect any service, it just you get the menu, you decide what you want then approach the counter and order.A lot of choices on the menu, I just went with the Chef Choice. Yep taste just like those from street store from KL. Love the portion and the price.

Panjali Malaysian and Indian Restaurant
Talk about a ‘hole in a wall’ place, run by an elderly lady, who cooks the food herself, based on her mother’s recipe, and I’ll think Panjali! The name is based on the late mother, who was generous enough to nourish our bodies, long after her time. The food is a simple Tamil Malaysian LOVE AFFAIR, the dishes look austere until the first bite and you get the whole array of experiences on your palate.I highly recommend the (veg) Banana leaf meal, served on a banana leaf paired with some lip smacking pomfret curry. This place will remind you of home ( if you’re an immigrant like me)

Edit 21 Feb '23Came back for a quick lunch break.Tried their nasi lemak complete and Plain rice with asam fish. This time the meals were mediocre. Since nasi lemak's chicken were from the warmer, they were borderline cold and tough. The rice was not mixed properly, you could see curdled coconut milk in the rice. I think I'll stick with nasi kerabu and the daging harimau nangis that we had last time.----------------------------Was recommended by hubby to try this place. Didnt disappoint. Nasi Kerabu complete is a must try. The whole thing from the fried fish fillet, sambal, little salad, fried chicken, salted duck egg and the rice just such a good combo. I only wish that they came hotter as they were quite lukewarm. The plain rice with daging harimau nangis was another gem. Caution tho, the spicyness on the meat build up slowly. It's a spicy dish. Probably fitting to the name as harimau nangis is translated as crying tiger. The service was friendly but the food was a bit of a wait as the line was quite long. Surcharge on card payment.

Yahoo Restaurant
Known as both Yahoo Hillcrest and Yahoo Boronia Heights (it's just on the Hillcrest side of the border between the two suburbs). Whichever your preferred reference, it's still a bit of a hike for me which is the main reason I've not been until this visit - had a church camp/retreat up at Mt Tamborine and decided to go the back way so I could swing by Ya Hoo for lunch on the way. Lo and behold who should we see upon our arrival but another church family with the same idea! This place has old school Chinese restaurant feels and the pricing was fantastic though I'm told rose a bit shortly after my visit in September. We ordered from the lunch menu where most of the meals were $11.50:* Crispy chicken with fried rice* Marmite chicken with fried rice* Pork spare ribs in plum sauce with steamed rice* Fried kwai teow* Butter oat prawns (without shell), $24.90* Spring roll 4pc $6.50* Long soup $6.50The prawns are from the dinner menu but we saw our friends on the other table order one so a friend in my party decided he might as well try it since he travelled so far to meet us there for lunch. I'm pretty sure as long as they have stock on hand they'll cook it if you ask. It's pretty good! The usual lunch menu options were also all solid and satisfying though tending on the salty side. I think they represent very good value and if this shop were closer to me I could see myself going often.

The char keay teow was very good. The fried chicken ribs with mayo was ok.Overall it's good value and the place wasn't too busy when we went on a Friday evening
